Everything you wanted to know about building and remodeling.
A Class B (General Building) contractor is licensed by the California Contractors State License Board to build or remodel structures that require at least two unrelated trades โ like framing, electrical, plumbing, and finishes. It's the right license for whole-home remodels, additions, ADUs, and new construction, and it lets one contractor manage the entire project.
It depends heavily on scope and finishes. As rough LA-market guidance: bathroom remodels often start in the low-to-mid five figures, kitchens in the mid five figures and up, room additions and ADUs commonly run into the low six figures, and custom homes are priced per project. Every estimate we provide is written and itemized so you see exactly where your budget goes.
Yes. Remodels, additions, ADUs, and structural work require permits through your city or LA County building department. We prepare drawings, submit for plan check, pull the permits, and schedule every required inspection so your project is legal and documented.
Most single-family lots in LA County now qualify for at least one ADU, and often a Junior ADU as well. We evaluate your lot, confirm the size and type allowed, and handle feasibility, design, permits, and construction. Learn more about our ADU services.
Design-build means one licensed contractor manages both the design and the construction under a single contract. You avoid the gaps and finger-pointing that happen when architects, subs, and suppliers work in silos โ and you get one accountable team, one schedule, and one point of contact.

Bathrooms typically run 3โ5 weeks, kitchens 4โ8 weeks, room additions 2โ4 months, ADUs 3โ8 months, and custom homes 10โ18 months. Permitting adds time up front. We give you a firm milestone schedule in your written estimate.
For phased or single-room projects, usually yes. For full-gut or major structural work we often recommend relocating for safety and speed. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on your specific scope.
